How to add Web Ready information to a 3MX file in iTwin Capture Modeler

Among other possibilities, iTwin Capture Modeler allows to create templates in format 3MX easily available on a website. For this, when creating the model, the box "Web ready" as illustrated below:

What if we forgot to check this box?

What is a 3mx file?

It is good to remember first that I format 3MX consists not of a single file but of a set of files and directories. The main file consists of:

[Production_name].3MX

PS The "Production name" is the one freely introduced when creating production.

This main file is found in the subdirectory "Scene" of a directory "Production name"in the "Production" directory of your project.

In the case of the example that will illustrate this document, my wrong production was named:

Production_Webready_OFF

My project is on my computer in the directory:

D:003.Test projectsBarn

My 3MX file will be here:

D:003.Test projectsBarnProductionProduction_Webready_OFFSceneProduction_Webready_OFF.3mx

How to add web ready information?

I invite you first to create a small project of some photos in which you will generate 2 productions: the first without checking the box "Web ready", and the second by ticking it.

We will have in our repertoire "Production" the following directories:

Now look at what's in each of the production directories:

...and for the one where the box was checked:

A directory "App" is present in this second case but not in the first. In addition the directory "Scene" contains two additional files: logo.png and placeholder.jpg which will be copied to the directory "Scene" of our production "Web ready“.

This directory "App" contains the applications and parameters for viewing the production on a website. It will therefore suffice to copy this directory "App"in production to repair forgetfulness...but it probably won't be enough.

Indeed, in the information contained in the file "...Appconfig.json" is the name of production. This name will eventually have to be changed so that it works perfectly.

In the video below you will see how to make the modification of a production "Production_Webready_PostProd" using production "Production_Webready_ON
