Creation of a solar study
Overview
This article explains how to create a solar study using workflow visualization in OpenBuildings Designer.
Method
To create a solar trajectory study, proceed as follows:
- Under the Visualization workflow, from the Home tab, go to the Utility Toolgroup and click on the Solar Study icon:
- The Solar Study dialog box includes a number of functions containing various parameters.
- The view must be the one from which you want to perform the study – The views with isometric rotation and shadows work better.
- Provide a resolution according to your choice – Higher resolution creates a better quality study display.
- The number of images interprets the fluidity of the video – The higher the number of images, the faster the transition.
- The speed describes the number of images executed per second – The higher the speed, the faster the video.
- Set the rendering mode to an appropriate style, avoiding wired images as it provides no shadow.
- Select your start time, date and year – Keep the date as indicated in the lighting manager.
- Indicate the duration according to the number of hours you want to conduct the study.
When saving, you will be asked to save the study record in a location with a desired format according to your preferences.
OpenBuildings Designer then executes the study in the background and creates a recording of it, to which you can access later from the location you have selected.
