What is PLAXIS 2D?

PLAXIS 2D is a powerful and easy-to-use finite element computing software (FE), designed for 2D analysis of deformations and stability in geotechnical and mechanical rock engineering. Used worldwide by reference companies and institutions, PLAXIS 2D applies to many projects: excavations, embankments, foundations, tunnels, mines, oil and gas, or geomechanical reservoirs.

It integrates all the essential tools to perform soil and rock deformation and safety analyses, without requiring consideration of creep, permanent groundwater flow, thermal transfer, consolidation or any time-dependent effect.

What is PLAXIS 2D Advanced?

PLAXIS 2D Advanced includes all the features of PLAXIS 2D, while enriching your geotechnical design capabilities with advanced materials tools and models. It allows to take into account creep, flow-deformation coupling via consolidation analysis, as well as permanent groundwater flow and heat transfer. Thanks to the multicore solver, your calculations are also faster and more efficient.

What is PLAXIS 2D Ultimate?

PLAXIS 2D Ultimate extends the features of PLAXIS 2D Advanced to identify the most complex geotechnical projects. Analyze the effects of soil vibrations, such as earthquakes or traffic loads, simulate complex temporal hydrological variations, and assess the impact of transient heat transfer on the hydraulic and mechanical behaviour of soils.

What is Geotechnical Analysis 2D WorkSuite?

Geotechnical Analysis 2D WorkSuite brings together PLAXIS 2D Ultimate and GeoStudio 2D Ultimate, offering the most complete 2D option. With GeoStudio 2D Ultimate, perform stability analyses of slope at equilibrium limits, simulate groundwater flow under various conditions and analyze static or dynamic stresses and deformations. Finished element results can be integrated for advanced evaluations.

Key Features

Software with finite, powerful and intuitive elements

PLAXIS features combine to create a powerful and intuitive finite element software for geotechnical analysis of soils, rocks and associated structures. Known for the reliability of its calculations, PLAXIS offers a wide range of material models to accurately model the behaviour of different types of soils and rocks, allowing a realistic assessment of stresses and displacements.

PLAXIS guides the user through several modes to create models logically and efficiently according to a structured geotechnical workflow. PLAXIS 2D models geometry using predefined structural element types and loads, with drawing features similar to those of CAD software, for fast and efficient creation of finite element models.

For tunnel solutions, an assistant allows quick and intuitive cross-sectional creation, the choice of reinforcements, coating and load conditions. The mesh mode offers automatic and manual refinements, automatic generation of regular or irregular meshes, as well as tools to verify mesh quality.

Create coherent digital geotechnical workflows, supporting the import of subsurface data, design and analysis, up to different types of results and reports.

User Word

PLAXIS's ability to work effectively with design, construction and contractor teams is its main asset. At meetings, I can respond quickly to stakeholder requests by adjusting geometry and sharing different scenarios. The ability to model instantly allows us to avoid endless exchanges of emails and phone calls.
