Migrate from AutoCAD to MicroStation: preparing existing files and content

CAD manager's concerns: How to migrate from AutoCAD to MicroStation?

We have invested so much in AutoCAD: money, time, settings, data, etc. It's not easy to think about migrating.

MicroStation includes the RealDWG Autodesk libraries, allowing you to use and produce DWG files without tedious and risky conversion. Make sure the DWG files created in MicroStation will be perfectly compatible, since identically, with AutoCAD (DWG is supported from version 14 to current versions).

MicroStation does not support AutoLISP, but supports VBA, as well as .NET, C/C++ (and MDL) and C#. It also offers several other ways to customize the features, including creating simple scripts and element models.

With regard to the time and money invested in AutoCAD, you must tackle this major decision objectively. Do not be overwhelmed by what you have integrated into your current solution: an emotional response is not a positive response for your business. A decision on the best CAD software for your company must necessarily be objective: i.e. based on the prospects that this software can provide in the future.
