Using camera zoom in iTwin Capture Modeler

Question

Can the zoom function be used on a camera?

Answer

It is recommended that a fixed focal distance be used throughout the acquisition process. To obtain a non-uniform projected pixel size, vary the distance to the subject. If you cannot avoid several focal distance settings, for example, if the distance to the subject is limited, take several sets of photos, each with a fixed focal distance. When using a zoom lens, make sure its position remains fixed on a series of photos. You can use a piece of tape with a manual zoom to keep it in place. A wide angle lens or fish-eye can be used if the appropriate camera model type is specified, iTwin Capture Modeler can automatically estimate the extreme distortion of the lens. Do not use digital zoom.
