Downloading and activating Bentley Systems perpetual licenses

Basic information

For some accounts, an individual may have all of the following roles:

  • Contact execution: the main contact of the account, which is responsible for purchases and contracts.
  • Account Administrator: installs the software for the organization and manages user access.
  • User: uses the software to do its job.

NOTE : Each organisation has at least one implementing contact with the role « Download ». You need the role « Product Delivery – Download » ? The execution contact, account administrator or co-administrator can use user management to add any role. Please refer to this page: Role/user management in the Bentley CONNECT Center.

Access to software downloads is not permitted for accounts without SELECT contracts.

Background

Traditionally, the activation of perpetual licences was via an activation key that an organisation distributed to all its users.

With subscription authorization service (Subscription Entitlement Service – SES), set up by Bentley, the activation of the product is managed by the user connection via the CONNECTION Client, which is installed on each machine that uses Bentley applications. This new system is safer and manageable because it offers user alerts, warning your users when they are about to reach a certain usage limit set by the administrator.

NOTE : For now, alone some Bentley applications are compatible with the subscription authorization service. Support for CONNECT licences will be extended as new versions of the application become available. Please check again as new updates to your applications become available.

To activate a CONNECT licensed product for the first time, please use one of the following approaches.

Download the software

1. Access the CONNECT Centre, scroll down the service tab to display the category « My services » and select the option « Software Downloads ».

2. Look for the software you want to install. There are 3 possibilities for this:

  • Use one of the three default lists (up to 15 products in each category)
  • Apply product range and/or brand filters
  • Use the search field

3. Click on the product icon to open the product page. The latest version (in your language if available) is listed by default.

4. Click « Download » to get the installation kit. If the results are not the ones you were waiting for, just try the product name (and maybe the language) and switch all the other filters to « Select ».
