The new licensing system that emerged with the generationCONNECT Editionof theBentley Systemsallows, among other things, to cap the use of the number of licenses by your users. This must be done by a person with administrative rights. A priori, Bentley Systems has already correctly configured the number of licenses for you. However, you can modify it to reserve, for example, some licenses for mobile users who are not necessarily connected to the internet.

Let's imagine you own 10 licenses ofMicroStation. They are all used at one time and an 11th user wishes to useMicroStation.

This license is additional and if use exceeds 10 minutes you will switch to mode "rental" which will automatically cause monthly or quarterly billing (QTL)as a contractCSSeither active or not.

If an available licence threshold has been set at 10, when an 11th instance ofMicroStationa message is displayed to the user. The user can decline, the application ends and this will not cause any rental billing. Either the user accepts and returns to rental mode as before. The administrator receives an alert email with the user's name in excess.

How to set up this alert?

Thanks to this small configuration you will be able to cap the use of your CONNECT Edition licenses. This will allow you to avoid invoicing for over-use of your products.

As a reminder, Bentley Systems starts counting the use of your software when a dozen full minutes of usage has been found. Beyond that, this means using a license.

This also means that in any case a use of less than 10 minutes is totally free. It can be convenient to view information, print a plan,... Don't forget to leave the application directly however.

Also note that it is considered that several performances of the same application in the same 10-minute period are worth a single execution.
